Is Christina Applegate engaged?
According to unreliable Star Magazine, actress Christina Applegate, 36, is engaged to her boyfriend, Dutch bass player Martyn Lenoble, 39. Lenoble was by Applegate's side when she battled breast cancer and made the brave decision to undergo a double mastectomy. Star reports that Lenoble proposed on Lance Bass' boat of all places and that at first she didn't accept but gradually came around to the idea. they quote a source which claims "he's been asking her to marry him for months but was rejected - until now," and that "Christina was incredibly touched by how he stepped up and took care of her."
Martyn... first proposed in early may, just days before Christina was diagnosed.
"He opened up a bottle of [champagne], brought along a catered meal, put on some Sinatra and went for it," the insider reveals. "Christina was overcome by his gesture, even though she wasn't ready to say yes."
[From Star Magazine, print edition, September 22, 2008]
Star reports that Applegate's rep denies this story, so it could be premature or untrue. it would be Christina's second marriage as her first to actor Johnathan Schaech ended in 2005 after four years. Their source claims "Christina vowed to never get married again, but then she got sick, and her illness has given her a new perspective on life." She's also said to be planning for children now.
Either way, congratulations are in order. Christina seems like she's back on her feet after a very difficult ordeal and she has a supportive and loving boyfriend. she also confirms that she's "100% cancer free" after her mastectomy.
Applegate has been confirmed as one of the presenters at this year's Primetime Emmy Awards. she has also been nominated in the best actress in a comedy category for her ABC sitcom Samantha who? The Primetime Emmy Awards will air September 21 on ABC.

Sandra Bullock Ribs Streep on Rivalry: 'I'm Gonna Beat the S*** Out of Her!'
Before Sandra Bullock made "Speed" with Keanu Reeves, her status as an A-list actress was hardly a cinch. her career up to that point had included a few forgettable films, with names like "Who Shot Patakango?"
Then "Speed" made Bullock the girl next door the world could fall in love with.
Now Bullock is nominated for best actress for her portrayal of Southern spitfire Leigh Anne Touhy in "The Blind side." the role propelled her from perennial romantic-comedy favorite into an elite circle of top-flight actors.
Watch "The Barbara Walters Oscar Special" before the Academy Awards Sunday at 7 p.m. ET
In the final "Barbara Walters Oscars Special," Bullock sat down with Walters to talk about her first shot at Oscar glory and how her life has evolved since the last time Walters interviewed her, fifteen years ago.
Competing against Bullock for the best actress Oscar this year will be perennial favorite Meryl Streep, who won kudos for her portrayal of chef Julia Child in "Julie & Julia."
"If Meryl wins," Walters asked, "what will you say to her?"
"I'm gonna beat the s*** out of her!" exclaimed Bullock, without missing a beat. "No, I'm just kidding. Um, you know that."
"And thank you, censor," said Walters.
Talk turned to affairs of the heart.
When Walters last interviewed Bullock, during the shooting of a "Time to Kill," the actress said she wasn't ready to get married yet. All that changed in 2005, when Bullock married Jesse James, then the host of the Discovery Channel's "Monster Garage."
Walters asked Bullock why she had resisted marriage all those years.

Sandra Bullock's Razzies Acceptance Speech (Video)

If Sandra Bullock beats Meryl Streep to win the Academy Award for Best Actress tonight, she'll make history, because in addition to being nominated for Oscar honors for her turn in the football drama The Blind Side, she also earned a nomination -- from the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation -- for Worst Actress of the year for starring in the abysmally-received comedy All About Steve. Last night in Hollywood, the classy actress actually showed up to receive her Razzie award, and she came bearing gifts.
Bullock, ever the good sport about being "honored," teased the crowd in attendance, all of whom she guessed hadn't actually seen All About Steve (which she also produced). During her acceptance speech ("I didn't realize that in Hollywood that all you have to do is say you'll show up and you'll get [the award]. if I had known that, I would have said I was appearing at the Oscars a long time ago"), Bullock exacted a revenge of sorts when she carted out a wagon full of All About Steve DVDs to give to the audience.

Meanwhile, this year's other Razzies winners included Michael Bay's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (Worst Picture, Worst Director), all three Jonas brothers (Worst Actor), G.I. Joe: the Rise of Cobra star Sienna Miller (Worst Supporting Actress), and Hannah Montana: the Movie's Billy Ray Cyrus (Worst Supporting Actor). get the full list of winners here.

And Sandra Bullock did, looking very much like one of the 2010 Academy Award winners that the movie star is -- in more ways than one.

Top 7 Oscar Long Shots Who Won Big
In the run-up to Sunday's Oscars, nominees should remember: it ain't over till the fat lady sings.
Film critics, industry insiders and movie fans have speculated for months about who will win Hollywood's most prized trophy, and they've come up with a widely-accepted list of favorites.
But nominees who didn't make the short list shouldn't fear: the race for the statue is anybody's game.
This year, most think the best picture Oscar will come down to either "Avatar" or "The Hurt Locker."
But "An Education" and "Inglourious Basterds," among others, have received their fair share of critical acclaim and certainly have a chance at winning the title.
While the entertainment world can't get enough of the best actress battle between Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock, the performances of Gabourey Sidibe as an abuse victim in "Precious" and Carey Mulligan as a teenager trying to find herself in "An Education" shouldn't be overlooked.
And even though Jeff Bridges won the Golden Globe for best actor for his role in "Crazy Heart," the quietly inspiring performance of George Clooney as a lost businessman in "Up in the Air" and Jeremy Renner as a member of an Army bomb squad in enemy territory in "The Hurt Locker" could give Bridges a run for his money.
There have been bigger upsets at the Academy Awards. below is a list of seven of the most famous Oscar-winning long shots.
Geraldine Page
After losing seven previous Oscars, Geraldine Page couldn't have been very hopeful when she was nominated as best actress in 1985 for her role as Carrie Watts in "The Trip to Bountiful." The movie was about the elderly Watts' journey from Houston and her overprotective son to her small Texas birthplace.
She was up against three of the decade's biggest heavyweights: Meryl Streep for the box office smash "Out of Africa;" Whoopi Goldberg for the moving epic "The Color Purple;" and Jessica Lange in "Sweet Dreams," a biopic about America's Sweetheart Patsy Cline.
While Page may have been the long shot, the academy and audience certainly thought the award was overdue. When opening the envelope, the best actress presenter F. Murray Abraham said, "I consider this woman to be the greatest actress in the English Language," and the audience immediately erupted into a standing ovation. Page found herself a bit tongue-tied in the acceptance speech, but never put down the statue, caressing it the whole time.
Page died a year later while starring in a Broadway revival of "Blithe Spirit."
Avatar takes Best Drama, Director
Avatar of James Cameron took Best Drama and himself, the Best Director Award in the recently concluded 67th Golden Globes held at Beverly Hills, California. It raised its chances on reaping awards in the Oscars this March.
The victory of Avatar of James Cameron in Globes was a recur of what happened in his classic movie, Titanic, some 12 years ago which it also gathered the Best Drama and Best Director Honors.
Sandra Bullock got the Best Actress in her movie the Blind Side, a football tale, while Jeff Bridges took Best Actor in the country-music story Crazy Heart. Bridges got a standing ovation from the crowd. He thanked his late father, Lloyd Bridges, for encouraging him to go into show business. Bullock acknowledged Michael Oher, the Baltimore Ravens rookie whose life is the subject of the movie, in her speech.
Julie & Julia's Meryl Streep and Sherlock Holmes' Robert Downey Jr. took the acting prizes for Musical and Comedy. the Hangover won the award for Best Musical or Comedy.
Cameron as he took the Best Director Award left some kind words to his ex-wife and co-nominee for the award, Kathryn Bigelow, director of the Hurt Locker. He confessed that he thought Bigelow would get the award and not himself. Avatar earning about $1.6 billion worldwide is second to Titanic which earned $1.8 billion.
At the end, Avatar is triumphant in Golden Globes as it reaped the two most-coveted awards Best Drama and Best Director. Critics and audience alike are in one with the success of the movie, as they expected it to be. Avatar is now ready to triumphed the most-awaited Academy Awards.

Poll: How many Oscars will 'Avatar' win? (OMG, all nine?)
"Avatar" can score up to nine Academy Award nominations: best picture, director, art direction, film editing, music score, song, sound editing, sound mixing and visual effects.
"Avatar" probably won't be nominated for best screenplay. James Cameron didn't reap a script bid for "Titanic" even though it sailed off into Oscar history as biggest champ, tying "Ben-Hur's" record (11). Also, don't expect "Avatar" to make the list for best makeup. Sure, the "blue monkeys" (Na'vi) are nifty and such fantastical creatures usually score makeup recognition for their films, but their look is the result of digital effects, not wizardry by makeup artists. Ditto costumes, so don't expect "Avatar" to pop up in that Oscar category.
Check out this post to read our detailed analysis of the competition that "Avatar" faces in all remaining nine Oscar races, then cast your vote below.

`Inglourious Basterds,’ Julia Roberts top surprises of Golden Globes nominations
_ NO REST FOR THE HANGOVER: the runaway hit of the summer, "The Hangover," earned a best picture (comedy or musical) nomination. It's perhaps less surprising considering how popular the movie was. the Globes, apparently warming to broad male comedies, last year gave nominations to "Pineapple Express" and "Tropic Thunder," too.
_ OH, BROTHER: Tobey Maguire's performance as a soldier suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder in "Brothers" has earned some good reviews, but neither the performance nor the film has had much traction. a cynical awards-watcher might say Maguire was a beneficiary of some glad-handing with the Hollywood Foreign Press. It's the first nomination for Maguire.
_ THE HURT LOCK: Jeremy Renner wasn't quite a lock for a best actor (drama) nomination, but his absence was unexpected. "The Hurt Locker," in which Renner plays a bomb technician in Iraq, is widely considered an Oscar favorite and has recently been picking up awards from critics groups. his spot in the category, though, likely went to Maguire.
_ TWO FOR BULLOCK: It's one of the best stories of the year: Nobody in Hollywood is hotter than Sandra Bullock. though middle-aged women (Bullock is 45) have long had a tough road in the movies, Bullock is not only ruling the box office, she's garnering adoration from critics. She was nominated for best actress in both drama ("The Blind Side") and comedy or musical ("The Proposal").
_ IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE: Clint Eastwood's "Invictus" and the British coming-of-age drama "An Education" are both forecast by insiders to reap Oscar nominations for best picture (which is now a field of 10 nominees). neither, though, won a best picture (drama) nom from the Globes despite success in other categories: Eastwood, Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon for "Invictus," and Carey Mulligan for "An Education."
