'American Idol': David Archuleta performing in Washington DC for 4th of July …

"American Idol" runner-up David Archuleta is joining R&B legend Gladys Knight at the annual July 4th holiday concert in Washington D.C. "A Capitol Fourth" will air live from the west law of the Capitol at 8 p.m. ET on PBS stations across the country.

Jimmy Smits is hosting the event and Reba McEntire, Darius Rucker and the National Sympathy Orchestra are also scheduled to participate in the patriotic festivities. this is the 30th anniversary of "A Capitol Fourth." It always ends with a length fireworks display.

Archie will sing the National Anthem, which we're sure will be great. we wish he would also get to do "Imagine," which seems like a nice 4th of July song and is also a piece he does very well. this is just another stop in his travels -- Archie has recently been debuting new songs at an Idaho concert, singing at the Mall of America, appearing on "Fox & Friends" and promoting his book "Chords of Strenght" on his own website.

'American Idol': Billboard names Kelly Clarkson most successful idol

It has been eight years since Kelly Clarkson took the stage in the very first season of "American Idol" and sang "A Moment Like This." She would go on to show that America had gotten it right.

Eight seasons later, Billboard ranks Clarkson as the most successful idol in its list of "'American Idol's' all Time Top 24."

According to the magazine, Clarkson has sold 10.6 million albums, 15.9 million in track sales and she has been played on the radio almost 4.3 million times.

In second place, the first country singer to win "Idol," Carrie Underwood, has outsold Clarkson in album sales, but the original idol still has her beat in track sales and radio plays.

The most "successful idol" is definitely a tough thing to call, especially since Clarkson has had at least three years on Underwood.

Billboard points out that not only does she beat the country diva in two of the three statistical categories, but she continues to inspire new "Idol" hopefuls like Siobhan Magnus who said she practiced her now infamous belting style by singing to Clarkson tunes.

Chris Daughtry, who didn't even win the competition in 2006, places third with the success of his band, Daughtry.

Do you think Kelly Clarkson should have won Billboard's top spot?

Justin Bieber praised by 'Saturday Night Live' guru Lorne Michaels …

You can add Lorne Michaels to the growing list of people who are fans of teen singing sensation Justin Bieber. in an interview with People Magazine, the "Saturday Night Live" mastermind had this to say about the "Baby" singer:

"How cool was he? Whatever we threw at him – particularly that teacher's sketch – they were changing it right up to air and they'd go right into his dressing room, tell him the changes and he'd hit them."

As for how Michaels decided to book Justin in the first place, his answer is an indication of why the singer is so popular around the world:

"I have a 12-year-old daughter. First you see the poster go up [in her room] and you start to pay attention after that."

Bieber is back in Atlanta (his current resident at the moment), getting in some rest and relaxation before embarking on a tour to Asia and Australia.

'American Idol:' Adam Lambert denies Christina Aguilera tour rumors

10 comments Subscribe Subscribe

It's funny how a rumor can get started -- just because an artist supports someone else's work on their Twitter account does not necessarily mean that they have any plans to work with them professionally in the future. such is the case with former "American Idol" contestant Adam Lambert. Earlier today, the singer posted a link advertising Christina Aguilera's big announcement -- her upcoming single entitled "Not myself Tonight."

However, upon doing this action an avalanche of rumors began suggesting that this was in some way a hint by Adam that he was to be working with Aguilera, possibly even on a future tour. as a matter of fact, the singer finally had to shut down the conversation with a new post Tuesday afternoon:

"No Christina tour fans... Where do you get these rumors? Haha I just retweeted her [countdown] to HER big news cuz I'm a fan :) "

There's still no definite news on when a nationwide tour by Adam Lambert could occur, but we are getting closer to finding out. the next big concert gig the singer has is in Vancouver early next month, and after that we are looking at a relatively clean slate.

Who do you want to see Adam Lambert go on tour with? let me know your thoughts with a comment and stay tuned for more "American Idol" news.

Justin Bieber spoofed by TV star Aziz Ansari in new 'Funny or Die' video

50 comments Print Email RSS Subscribe Subscribe

Justin Bieber is one of the most popular people in the world right now, so we really shouldn't take it as too much of a surprise that actors and comedians left and right are popping out of the woodwork to spoof him.

For evidence of this, all you have to do is look at "Parks and Recreation" star Aziz Ansari's new parody video for "Funny or Die." in it, one of his alter egos, a popular music performer, proclaims that Bieber stole the idea for "Baby" from him after shooting him down and vandalizing his recording studio.

Is it great to see Justin Bieber inspiring comedy? It most definitely is, but there is much better comedy (and much better work from Aziz) out there than this clip, which just relies more on shock value than anything else. It also doesn't potentially help that the majority of Justin's fans are probably too young to watching something full of profanity, violence, and the like.

If you want to check out this Justin Bieber parody, follow this link (but know that it contains very strong language and violence).

Do you find the idea for the video funny? Let me know your thoughts with a comment and stay tuned for more of the latest news.

Jay-Z: Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus 'We Are the World' not necessary

21 comments Print Email RSS Subscribe Subscribe

The new version of "We Are the World," featuring such celebrities as Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus, already has one major famous critic: Jay-Z. The rap mogul told MTV News that while he appreciates the cause, he doesn't necessarily feel like remaking the song was the best choice:

"I know everybody is gonna take this wrong: 'We Are the World,' I love it, and I understand the point and think it's great. But I think 'We Are the World' is like 'Thriller' [by Michael Jackson] to me. I don't ever wanna see it touched."

Jay-Z continued to insist that his opinion had nothing to do with raising money for earthquake victims in Haiti:

"I'm a fan of music. I know the plight and everything that's going on in Haiti. I applaud the efforts: [Millions have been raised] through text [donations] to Haiti."

As for what should be done instead of a "We Are the World" remake, Jay-Z said the music industry would be better off creating a new song instead that is more representative to the Haiti cause. The people of the 1980s had their own song to identify with -- why shouldn't we?

Do you agree with Jay-Z's sentiment, or are you more about helping Haiti in any way possible? Feel free to share your thoughts with a comment below.
